MAIN BIO
Diego Amador was born in Seville in 1973 and raised in a Gitano (Roma) family with a deep musical tradition, in an environment where flamenco was not simply a genre, but a natural way of life and expression. The son of flamenco guitarist Luis Amador, and the youngest of a family of artists, he grew up surrounded by music, absorbing its language through listening, experience and oral tradition.
His first instruments were the flamenco guitar and singing. However, at an early age, he felt drawn to the piano. As a self-taught musician, he developed a highly personal way of playing, transforming the piano into a flamenco instrument with its own identity — one that breathes, phrases and moves with the essence of flamenco itself.
One of the defining elements of his artistry is his ability to accompany his own singing from the piano, creating a unique dialogue between voice, rhythm and harmony. Rather than blending genres superficially, Diego Amador builds from within the tradition, expanding its possibilities while remaining deeply connected to its roots.
CAREER / TRAJECTORY
Throughout his career, he has collaborated and performed with leading figures in both flamenco and jazz, appearing on international stages and festivals across Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia.
He was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for Río de los Canasteros, and has received important recognitions such as the Giraldillo at the Bienal de Flamenco in Seville. Beyond awards and collaborations, Diego Amador stands as a timeless artist — one who does not follow trends, but continuously develops his own musical voice.
His music represents a natural evolution of flamenco: rooted, expressive and unmistakably personal.
