Diego Amador

his personal history
Diego Amador, the youngest of eight siblings, grew up on the streets of the Sevillian neighborhood known as "the 300 homes." His home, of Romani ethnicity, was always marked by music. The flamenco tradition was a natural part of the Amadors: a lineage of artists who had already left their mark on the world through their older brothers, revolutionary with the group Pata Negra, who brought flamenco rhythms to life using other instruments such as bass and drums.

A sacred space
His father, Luis Amador, a flamenco guitarist and a loving paternal figure, has been his greatest support. Diego, even though he was the youngest, felt that his path in music would be different, unique. Amidst the challenges of his neighborhood, Diego asked his father for something that would change his destiny: a room of his own. He needed a space where he could dream, create, and let music save him from the reality that threatened to trap him. That small space became his first studio, his sanctuary, and since then, he has replicated that corner in every place life has taken him. It was in that sacred space that Diego found his true voice.
The guitar and flamenco singing were part of his being, but Jazz introduced him to new sounds, like the piano, an unattainable instrument. But lacking resources, ingenuity conquered all. He would take the catalytic stove off the wall, close his eyes, and in his visualization, he could feel the keys. His observant father managed to bring an old Hammond organ home, and he found the freedom he was seeking. From that moment on, without abandoning his flamenco heritage, Diego fused styles and created his own unique sound: he was a pioneer in bringing the virtuosity of flamenco guitar technique to the piano and the first to accompany himself on cante jondo with this instrument.
